Last week, we took a comparative view of Classic vs. New Quizzes in Canvas. This week, we鈥檙e taking a deeper dive into the Classic Quiz tool, including how to create the quiz, configure the settings and accommodations, preview and publish, and handle grading and makeups.
Canvas gives a great way to share content with our students, but it can be a struggle to keep up with all of the digital resources and weblinks over time. We can leverage the Link Validator tool in Canvas to quickly identify broken links so that we can fix them before they become a problem for students.
Roll Call Attendance is a tool that allows instructors to take student attendance electronically via a list of student names or a seating chart grid. The Attendance tool can be used for both online and face-to-face courses.
Course accessibility is a time-sensitive activity. Throughout the course's development, you can take small steps to make course materials accessible, so when a student needs accommodation, it is available. Captioning videos can even help students who do not have an accommodation, for instance, if they do not know how to spell a term, cannot have the volume on, or simply learn better by reading.

Do you have a student taking an incomplete this semester? The most common way instructors handle incompletes in Canvas is to extend student access to their course beyond the end of the term so that the student can submit the remaining work.
Cross-listing is a Canvas feature that allows instructors to combine multiple course section of enrollments into a single course. Cross-listing can be helpful for faculty who teach multiple sections of the same course and only want to manage course data in one location.

Midterms are approaching! Now is a good time to double-check that the grade information your students see in your Canvas course(s) is up to date, including the grading scheme. The grading scheme is the setting that tells Canvas which percentages equate to which letter grades in the course.
