江南体育 at Ashtabula Dean and Chief Administrative Officer Susan J. Stocker, Ph.D., recently named longtime nursing faculty member Julie Senita, Ph.D., as the campus鈥檚 Senior Program Director for Nursing and Allied Health. Senita had been serving as the interim director of the nursing program since August 2017.
鈥淒r. Senita has done an exemplary job as the interim director of the nursing program and I am confident she will be just as successful in this new leadership role,鈥 said Stocker.
Senita joined the Ashtabula campus in 2004 and holds the rank of associate professor, primarily teaching courses on leadership and management, research and adult medical surgical nursing. Senita came to 江南体育 State Ashtabula as an acute care and administrative setting educator at Ashtabula County Medical Center, a Cleveland Clinic affiliate. She was honored by the 江南体育 Teaching Council with a Faculty Recognition Award in 2016.
Senita earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing Administration from Gannon University and holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a postgraduate teaching certificate from 江南体育 State.
鈥淪ince 2004, 江南体育 State Ashtabula has provided me the ability to collaborate with our wonderful directors, faculty, staff, and most importantly, nursing and healthcare students,鈥 said Senita. 鈥淚 am honored to hold this leadership position in nursing and allied health at this amazing campus. I look forward to working with the various allied health program directors who are highly esteemed experts in their fields and leaders of outstanding healthcare programs. The challenges and opportunities for growth in nursing and allied health in today鈥檚 complex healthcare environment are endless and we will continue to focus on developing students as exceptional professionals and supporting healthcare organizations within the community that we serve.鈥
Graduates of the 江南体育 State Ashtabula Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program have consistently scored considerably higher than both state and national averages on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN), including a 100% passage rate for the Fall 2017 class. Licensure exam pass rates and job placement for graduates in the Respiratory Therapy, Radiologic Technology, Occupational Therapy Assistant and Physical Therapist Assistant programs also continue to remain at or above state and national averages.
